It seems like he knew that his car was uninsured and his license was expired. He just did not follow the laws because he did not feel like he should follow it. He does not like to be regulated or restricted because he is a free soul. It also seems like he does not want to follow the rules because he wants to go back to nature, where nothing of society matters. His belief is that governmental or social rules are irrelevant to the individual activities. He wants to conduct his life and do what he wants to do and that is the reason why he rejects the laws.  

Most importantly, Chris rejects his human relationships, even the one toward the family. “…or that they think I’d actually let them pay for my law school if I was going to go… I’ve told them a million times that I have the best car in the world, a car that has in all those thousands of miles not given me a single problem, a car that I will never trade in, a car that I am very strongly attached to-yet they ignore what I say and think I’d accept a new car from them! I’m going to have to be real careful not to accept any gifts from them in the future because they will think they have bought my respect.” He does not want to get any help from anyone, even his family. It even looks like he is separating himself from his parents. Quote reflects his thought about getting help and materials from others. He does not like the idea of “buying” respect. Respect should only be earned by personality or the quality of the individuals. He also have some thoughts about gifts creating obligations to the person who gave it. He does not want to put himself into the trap of the cycle. He does not want to participate in any human relationship-wise activities.

그는 차가 보험에 가입하지 않았고 운전면허도 만료됐다는 사실을 알고 있었다. 그는 법을 준수하지 않았는데, 따라야 한다고 느끼지 않았기 때문이다. 그는 통제를 받거나 규제당하고 싶지 않았는데, 자유로운 영혼이기 때문이다. 또한 규정을 따르고 싶어 하지 않는 듯이 보였는데, 사회의 어떤 것도 중요하지 않은 자연으로 회귀하고 싶어 하기 때문이다. 그의 확신은 정부 또는 사회의 규정이 개인적 활동에 부적절하다는 것이다. 그는 자신의 삶을 경영하고 자신이 원하는 일을 하길 원하며 바로 그게 법을 거부하는 이유다.    
　
가장 중요한 것은 크리스가 인간관계를 거부한다는 사실인데, 심지어는 가족 관계에까지. "아니면 그들은 로스쿨에 가면 학비를 내달라고 할 것라고 생각한다....나는 수백 번도 넘게 세상에서 가장 좋은 차를 갖고 있고, 이 차는 수천 마일을 달려도 전혀 문제가 없는 차라고 말했다. 결코 이 차를 팔지 않을 것이고 매우 강력하게 애착을 느끼고 있는 차라고 말했는데도 내 말을 무시하고 새로운 차를 그들로부터 받을 거라고 생각한다! 나는 장래에 그들로부터 어떤 선물도 받지 않도록 매우 조심할 것인데, 그들이 내 존경을 샀다고 생각할 것 같아서다." 그는 아무에게도 심지어는 가족으로부터도 어떤 도움도 받길 원하지 않는다. 심지어는 그의 부모로부터 자신을 분리하는 듯이 보인다. 언급은 남에게 도움과 물질을 받는다는 점에 대한 그의 생각을 반영한다. 그는 존경을 "산다"는 생각을 좋아하지 않는다. 존경심은 개인의 인격이나 성품에 의해서만 얻어야 한다. 또한 그는 준 사람에 대해서 의무감을 느끼게 만드는 선물에 대해서도 생각이 있다. 그는 스스로 순환의 덫에 걸리고 싶지 않은 것이다. 그는 어떤 인간관계에도 참여하고 싶어하지 않는데-지혜로운 행동이다.
