말로리의 Because it is there는 과연 조작된 신화일까요?
일각에서는 조작되었다고 주장 했는가 보는데, 판단을 위해서 제일 중요한 것은 원전기록이겠죠.
과연 조작일까요? 아니면 진실일까요?

Mallory is famously quoted as having replied to the question "Why do you want to climb Mount Everest?" with the retort: "Because it's there", which has been called "the most famous three words in mountaineering".[1][2] There have been questions over the authenticity of that quote, and whether Mallory had actually said it. Some have suggested that it was a paraphrase by a newspaper reporter, but scrutiny of the original report in the New York Times leaves this unresolved. The phrase was certainly consistent with the direct quotes cited in the New York Times report, so it cannot be said to misrepresent Mallory's attitude.[3][4]

이로서 조작설은 사라지게 되었다는데....
애초부터 조작설이 없었으면 더 좋았을까라고 생각할수도 있겠지만,
이런 큰일에 조작설이 있슴으로 해서 이 인터뷰가 도리어 '전설'
